Early Monday morning, at an intersection known to locals as dangerous, and in need of upgrade, two people died as a result of a motor vehicle accident involving a school bus and an unmarked police car. It happened at the intersection of Highway 59 and Oxford County Road 33 in East Zorra-Tavistock Township, north of Woodstock, Ontario.
The name of the bus driver has not been officially released, but at least one news outlet identified him as Dave Stewart, an employee of Langs Bus Lines, which serves several school boards in Southwestern Ontario, including the Thames Valley District School Board. His obituary decribes him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be greatly missed
The driver of the police car was OPP Detective Constable Steven Tourangeau, who is described as a family man who was assigned to the OPP’s Huron-Perth Community Street Crime Unit. He was well known in Essex County as a valued member of the Belle River (now the Lakeshore) Canadiens, a team in the Ontario Junior Hockey League.
Another line of duty death
Prayers for strength to help carry family and friends of this tragic accident through their grief.
