When I created Tom Book, I pictured him looking like Mark Ruffalo, who may be best known for his role in Marvel superhero movies as Dr. Bruce Banner, who turns into the Incredible Hulk. Hulk or not, he looks to me like someone who has a lot going on under the surface.
Tom's a forty-something ordained minister, who has been stuck in a doldrum kind of existence since his wife died after her second go round with brain cancer.
His relationship with his 18 year old daughter Hope has been both strenghtened and strained by their shared grief. Life is complicated. Hope chose to move to Atlanta to begin her pre-med studies, at a small college that is part of Emory University.
I pictured Hope Book with a certain sadness in her eyes, which is what I see in Chloe Grace Moretz.
I always find picturing characters, a problem when the book is made into a movie. My impression never matches the producer’s pick. 🙂
I have not, but now you have me thinking about it.
