Posting the chapters of The Book of Answers began the process that led to its publication as a freestanding e-book, and later paperback and hard cover.
Total sales of my first mystery are over 500, and I am beyond thrilled.
The book, which was a finalist for a Crime Writers of Canada Award of Excellence for Unpublished First Manuscript, is also under consideration for another CWC Award, for First Crime Novel. We’ll see what happens in the spring.
There are, in development stages, at least three other stories from the life of my protagonist, Rev. Tom Book.
I am thinking of ways to continue to use the Substack format, including sharing new pieces of writing that may become part of larger works. (I put one of those: “Barking then not barking” out just this week.)
I may share preliminary chapters from Tom’s new adventures. It would be good to see what folks think.
It seems like time to focus forward rather than on what’s already done.
Unless I hear a resounding protest, next week I will take down the chapters from The Book of Answers, and remove it from Substack’s fiction library.
Great book and good sales! And, yep time to not be giving it away, unless you want to leave chapter one on for new guests.
