Enjoyed reading this. I agree that the "sleuth" has to be real, warts and all. I do enjoy cozy mysteries and cozy dystopia, but my violence bar is very low and I think that even language can be violent without being lewd or overly angry in the use of language. I could hear threats in even some of those women who "own" their particular parish and recognized those voices ... and I flinched. Ouch! Can't wait for the next!
As you know I lean toward historical fiction and memoir but now I'll be taking a look at her books. Thanks for the poke.
